Interval training

You can burn fat easier with interval training.
Other advantages are:
-saving time, because you’re working harder in a shorter period of time
-flexibility, as it works with any activity and you choose how long and how hard you work during the intensity intervals
-variety: the workouts feel like they fly by because you’re breaking the workout up into shorter segments

And it is great for all levels of fitness. Athletes use interval training to increase performance, but it’s also a great way for beginners to get higher intensity exercise in more manageable doses.
So how does it exactly work?

Let us consider biking exercise:

  • you first warm up 5 minutes at a normal speed,
  • then you accelerate for 60 second to the normal speed +50 %,
  • then you slow down for 90 seconds at normal speed -30%,
  • again 60 seconds at +50%, followed by 90 seconds at normal speed -30%,
  • and again 60 seconds at +50%, followed by 90 seconds at normal speed -30%,
  • again 60 seconds at +50%, followed by 90 seconds at normal speed -30%,
  • again 60 seconds at +50%,followed by 90 seconds at normal speed -30%,
  • finishing with 5 minutes at normal speed.

You can also apply this mode on the treadmill, while walking etc…
I do it in my living room, I walk while carrying 10 pound weights in front om me, during the 60 seconds high speed I put the weights above my head. If this is too easy, you can put a small table or chair in the middle of the room, so you walk, step up, step down and continue on your path.
