Enema: Techniques and Positions
There is as much difference between a colonic and an enema as between a jumbo jet and a Cessna.
A colonic can only be done by a doctor or a qualified nurse, with the right equipment and will clean all your colon, from your rectum till your appendix.
An enema can be done at home and will clean out the rectum and the sigmoid colon, and if you are lucky, and with a lot of exercise, also your descending colon. But then again, if a lot of enema exercise is needed, you surely eat the wrong food, and should first change to a healthier diet.
When we start an enema, in which positions should the body be? Look at the picture.
Of course you go to the toilet before starting the enema, this means your rectum and your sigmoid colon are clear, and ready to accept the liquid. If for you, the position laying on your back is the easiest one, just lay on your back and relax. Let the water in per 5 seconds, do not hurry, feel your body. Gently massage the under left side of your belly, where the sigmoid colon is. Do not put too much pressure, just try to relax that part of the colon. If you get a "full" feeling, turn on your left side.
Gently massage the left side of the belly, and when the presure of the liquid disappears, open the tap and let more water in. By pulling your rectum in, you can suck the water inside, but take your time, Rome was not build in one day.
When you feel full again, lay on your back again and gentle massage the signoid colon and the transverse colon, without too much pressure, and try to keep the water in for 10-15 minutes, before sitting on the toilet to empty your colon.
If the enema is with a neutral liquid like water, you can take a second enema just after the first one, but this is only usefull if the result of the first one showed some old dark stool, and you should feel lucky to get rid of it. The stool can also be black/dark red because you ate a lot of red beet, and that is nothing to be worried about.
The liquid should be around body temperature and for people who get easily infected, I advise to take distilled water. In some countries you can find easily enema kits at the drug store, if not you can buy an enema kit in our shop . I made one myself, for under 2 USD.
How high you should hang the liquid recipient? Opinions differ, but most specialists speak about 6 feet/1.50 meters high to get the right pressure. I would not do an enema on children, when something is wrong with your child, go to see a professional.
It is nice when you can do an enema when your partner is present as sometimes you can need a helping hand, but it can be done when you are alone too.
Do not do an enema just for fun! I read that fun-enamas are done a lot in the USA, even with wine, as when you enter wine in the colon, you get drunk very fast.
I also read that in the USA they use enemas of one liter and even more. Of course their large intestine is blown up by junk food and soda, so they need more liquid but in a normal enema 750 cc should be more than enough.
I will give some recipes for enemas later.
