First you have to learn about Yin and Yang, for Yin click here, for Yang click here.
The most important influence on our health is our food. You are, indeed, what you eat. When we talk about the balance between Yin and Yang, we need to strive to find this balance in our food. Every balance has its ideal point. For food this balance is achieved by cereals.

Cereals are: maize (corn), rice, wheat, barley, sorghum, millet, oat, rye, fonio (sorghum and fonio are only given here to be complete as you will hardly find them outside Africa). Also buckwheat and quinoa are from the cereal family but are called pseudocereals.

Several other species of wheat have also been domesticated; some very early in the history of agriculture:

  • Spelt, a close relative of common wheat.
  • Einkorn, a wheat species with a single grain.
  • Emmer, one of the first crops domesticated in the region of ancient Mesopotamia.
  • Durum, the only tetraploid species of wheat currently cultivated, used to make semolina.

We discourage however eating only cereals. Especially in the beginning of a diet change and over a long period of time -f.i. when you come from a normal western diet, with a lot of extremes- your body will not be able to make all elements needed.
